Okotoks Show & Shine

August 13

The Okotoks Show & Shine was established in 2009 and continues to be one of the most popular events in Okotoks. Each August, over 10,000 spectators fill the streets of downtown Okotoks to view more than 500 unique cars, trucks and motorcycles! Organized by a dedicated group of volunteers, the true spirit of Okotoks Show & Shine shines through each summer. This event is all about fun! Fun for car enthusiasts who bring their “pride and joy” to be viewed by the thousands of visitors.  Fun for the families who wander the streets admiring the amazing vehicles. Fun for Seniors who are reminded of days gone by as they reminisce of their own vehicles from each era and fun for all with the amazing music filling the streets, beer gardens for soaking up the sun while enjoying a cool one, and food that will delight any and all. This show really is for everyone!

Okotoks Chili Fest

August 26

Okotoks merchants and residents stir the pot to create a traditional cowboy comfort food on this weekend. Teams concoct mouth-watering chili recipes for the annual Okotoks Chili Fest and Cook Off from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. “Chili is an easy recipe to make,” says our events coordinator. “Everyone has a secret ingredient. It’s an opportunity for bragging rights.” Each team is provided with 20 pounds of ground beef and are left to their own devices to create their concoction. Prizes are awarded for the best chili voted by a judge and the public, for best theme display and most enthusiastic team. The chili festival takes place in conjunction with the Okotoks Pro Rodeo and an outdoor artisan street market with about 100 vendors displaying their wares. Stop in for some great shopping opportunities and some great shops in our downtown. Come down to taste the chili creations or register a team and compete! Spice up your weekend with chili sampling from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the corner of Elk Avenue and Elizabeth Street, children’s activities, live music, and an outdoor artisan street market!
